Why the Internet?
The Cheapskates Journal was established to make available a wealth of knowledge on how to cut the costs of everyday living, save money, time and energy and still have fun. Being a Cheapskate, I found the easiest, most cost efficient way to present this information to Australians was via the Internet.
Being an online publication saves you, the subscriber, a lot of money. The costs involved in producing a hard copy of The Cheapskates Journal each month would be far greater than those using the Internet. The postage alone would make the cost of a subscription beyond the reach of Cheapskates.
We are a frugal lot, and find any unnecessary expense anathema. Being an online publication not only saves the cost of postage, it saves paper (and trees), an enormous amount of time, printing costs and most of all it saves you, the subscriber, a stack of paper to be looked after each month.
Why did I choose Solutions Management to build The Cheapskate Journal website? Simple I chose Solutions Management because they were able to build a website to my specifications at a very reasonable price. I am able to maintain and manage the website myself, another way of keeping costs down.
Having the Cheapskates Journal as an online publication enables me to produce a newsletter full of value at minimal cost to you, the subscriber.

Why Banner Ads?
While The Cheapskate Journal website is half open to visitors, the other portion is password protected for Members who have taken advantage of subscribing for $37.95 per year (includes GST). Members have access to the Member's Centre, a new Journal each month, full of hints, tips, ideas and articles on how to cut the costs of everyday living, back issues, discussion groups, Cheapskates Tip Store and much, much more.
Being on-line, The Cheapskates Journal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. The thousands of visitors to the site can take advantage of the free pages without any restrictions being placed on them. They can visit as many times as they like, for as long as they like and we welcome them. We do not sell member information or details to anyone for any purpose whatsoever.
We chose to become an on-line publication to keep the costs down. No, it is not cheap to maintain a website that is updated daily. It is very expensive. It takes a lot of time to put The Cheapskates Journal together so that you can just click and have it appear.
But it is still cheaper to produce The Cheapskates Journal this way, than in the traditional print manner. We could be traditional and produce a printed newsletter, mailed to you each month, but we would have to drastically increase costs. We feel it is a much better proposition, financially, for everyone, to sell advertising space and have banner ads on our site than to increase the cost of The Cheapskates Journal 300% or even more.
While we are not responsible for the content of those ads, we do screen them so that they are morally correct and in line with The Cheapskates Journal philosophy. Remember, it is only advertising, and you can ignore it if you really want to.
Banner ads and policies are subject to change.
